Gardena Wall-Mounted Hose Box – RollUp M/L 25 metre by Kiran Parmar
In Summer 2025, we were delighted to review the Gardena CleanSystem Wash Set Brush (read here) and Gardena CleverRoll M Hose Trolley (read here). We were seriously impressed with these two products, the German company Gardena takes pride in producing high quality, robust, user-friendly products to cater for homeowners, gardeners and motorists.
As Spring 2026 is in the air, we were excited to receive another Gardena product to install and review in Free Car Mag.
One of the biggest frustrations with the conventional garden hose is; “Where did I leave it back in winter? Is it in the shed? Is it in the garage, or did I leave it in the greenhouse?” — you get the idea, and when you eventually find it, it is coiled up in a messy tangle on the ground covered in leaves, mice have bitten through the rubber, and the plastic connectors have perished over the cold winter months rendering it useless.
Wouldn’t it be better if the garden hose was in a fixed location which is easily accessible to everyone in the household and wouldn’t it be great if the hose lives inside its own protective housing, so it always remains in peak condition?
Well, this is exactly what Gardena have come up with! The ‘Gardena RollUp M/L 25m’ is a brilliant space saving, wall mounted system that you can install in close vicinity to your garden or garage tap. To deploy the hose all you do is pull however much you need and the system will automatically lock at your desired length and once you have finished watering your lawn or washing your car, simply tug the hose slightly and the ‘RollUp’ system will automatically rewind the hose slowly and safely without kinking or crushing the hose pipe — absolutely genius!
It took us less than 40 minutes to install the Gardena ‘RollUp’. Anyone with basic DIY knowledge can do it and it is super easy!
Here are the tools you will need:
1x SDS Drill (Corded or cordless)
1x 8mm SDS Drill Bit
1x Pencil or ‘Marxman’ pen
1x Spirit Level
1x Mallet
1x Crosshead Screwdriver
1x Socket Set with extension and 10 mm socket
Gardena provides 3x wall plugs, 3x bolts, 3x washers, 1x retaining screw, Hose connectors and tap connectors, 1x spray nozzle and 1x wall bracket. The hose is pre-installed inside the ‘RollUp M/L’ at the factory so you are ready to go.
Step 1: Find a suitable location where you want to install the ‘RollUp M/L’ — this should be close to your garden/ garage tap, choose a height that is ergonomic for everyone in your household.
Step 2: First remove the unit from the Gardena packaging box and unscrew the lower retaining screw, this will allow you to separate the wall bracket from the main unit. Keep the retaining screw in a safe place! Offer up the wall bracket to the wall, use your spirit level to ensure it is perfectly straight, use your ‘Marxman’ or pencil to mark the three holes. Ensure there is adequate space directly above the bracket for the ‘RollUp M/L’ to slot in.
Step 3: Drill the three holes to the correct depth, use the wall plugs as a rough guide next to your drill bit so you know how deep to drill.
Step 4: Use the mallet to drive home the three wall plugs.
Step 5: Offer up the wall bracket again and drive home each bolt using your socket set, be careful not to over tighten the bolts. Once the wall bracket is securely fastened to the wall, check the bracket is straight and level one final time.
Step 6: Carefully ‘drop in’ the wall box into the bracket without pinching your fingers!
Step 7: Screw in the retaining screw at the bottom of the bracket.
Step 8: Connect the supply hose to your garden/ garage tap. Use the Gardena male tap connector, some PTFE tape on your taps thread is always helpful to make a leak-proof connection.
Step 9: Connect the spray nozzle to the output connector of your hose. Switch on the water and system is now ready for use.
The ‘RollUp M/L’ can swivel at 180 degrees which works with you as you deploy the hose and water your garden. After you finish watering, you can swing the unit flush to the wall to save space.
Thanks to the Gardena’s ‘RollControl’ technology, the hose can be deployed and rewound effortlessly.
Once again, the Free Car Mag team were very impressed with this Gardena product.

The ‘RollUp M/L’ features UV and frost protection so it can be left outside all year round and comes with an impressive five-year warranty upon registration for peace of mind. There is also a storage area underneath the wall bracket where you can hang two spray nozzles.
