That’s right…Get ready for the return of the nation’s favourite car show with a heart, as Car S.O.S revs up for another thrilling and heartfelt ride in its thirteenth season, premiering Thursday, 13th March at 8pm on National Geographic.
Hosted by the dynamic duo Tim Shaw and Fuzz Townshend, the new season once again celebrates extraordinary individuals, their passion for motors, and the resilience of the human spirit, blending adrenaline-fueled automotive makeovers with deeply moving personal stories.
With a line-up sure to thrill even the most devoted petrolhead, Season 13 of Car S.O.S showcases an array of iconic vehicles, each with its own unique story. From rally legends like the Toyota Celica GT-Four and VW Polo G40 to classic British icons like the Wolseley Hornet Six and Land Rover Discovery Series 1, the series is a celebration of automotive history in all its rich diversity.
Sports car enthusiasts are in for a treat as Car S.O.S tackles its first-ever Ferrari restoration with the iconic Ferrari 308 GTS, alongside the BMW E46 M3. Off-road fans won’t be disappointed either, with standout transformations of the Suzuki Jimny and a 1966 VW Beach Buggy, delivering something special for every car lover.
This season, in a groundbreaking TV first, car show legends Jeremy Clarkson and Mike Brewer team up with Tim and Fuzz to restore and return beautifully refurbished vehicles to their deserving owners. Episode 5 takes viewers to Jeremy Clarkson’s iconic farm for an unforgettable car reveal, while in Episode 2, Mike Brewer showcases his expertise with a jaw-dropping restoration at his Sheffield-based dealership. The series also features a special appearance from comedian Johnny Vegas, with more headline celebrities to be announced.
In another landmark moment for Car S.O.S, the new series puts science to the test by exploring whether convertible cars are genuinely more fun and exciting to drive than hatchbacks. A team of scientists joins the action, measuring brainwaves and heart rates as drivers—including Tim and Fuzz—put two identical cars to the test: one a convertible and the other a hatchback, with some truly remarkable results that might just change the way we view open-top driving.
Keeping to the same format as previous seasons, each episode of Car S.O.S begins with a nomination from a friend or family member of someone unable to restore their cherished vehicle due to personal challenges such as health issues or financial difficulties.
Once the car is secretly collected, Tim and Fuzz – supported by an expert team of mechanics and bodyworkers – set to work bringing it back to life. From sourcing rare and hard-to-find parts to tackling complex mechanical and cosmetic repairs, the team leaves no stone unturned to ensure every vehicle is restored to its former glory.
But Car S.O.S is about much more than just cars. Each episode weaves in personal stories that highlight the emotional connection between the owner and their vehicle. Heartfelt interviews with friends and family reveal why the car means so much, building anticipation for the key moment: the big reveal where the owner is surprised with their beautifully restored car.
