The windscreen has an incredibly tough life; constantly being assaulted by the wind, pelted with rain, insects, attacked by frost on those winter mornings, intense heat and UV rays during summer heatwaves, not to mention; snow, hailstones, road salts, oil, grime, the constant swooshing of your wiper blades, and little stones flying at high speed that occasionally chip and crack the screen and all this just from the exterior.
From the inside, the windscreen goes from being blasted from cold to hot air during the winter every time you switch on the demister and heat up the cockpit, and in the summer the reverse happens when you switch on your AC to cool down your vehicle from the sweltering ‘greenhouse’ effect.
When your car is sitting in the hot sun, particles that are sitting on, or near your dashboard such as plastics, rubber, vinyl, leftover food, drink, and a million other things that could be in your vehicle, heat up, turn into a gas, rise and form a film over the screen.
Yet, the humble windscreen that was invented in 1903, plays a huge role in your driving experience, it is your window and protector from the outside world, so it is about time we show it some TLC!
Due to the angle of the windscreen and the way the human hand and arm are formed, it is very difficult to clean the inside of the front and rear windscreens. However, there is a brilliant solution from ‘Stoner Car Car’ who have invented the ‘Invisible Glass Reach & Clean Tool’.
At first glance it looks like a simple stick with a triangle cloth on one end, but that is far from the truth. ‘Stoner Car Care’ have spent much time, energy, and expense in designing, engineering and creating a tool that is highly ergonomic to use and has the ability to transfer cleaning power from your arm, wrist, and hand to the surface of the interior or exterior glass for perfect edge to edge cleaning, with maximum, even pressure contact.

Simply spray a light mist of Glass cleaner (we are using Invisible Glass Spray Cleaner) directly onto the pad and move the tool first all the way around the perimeter of the screen, and then secondly; use an up to down motion to ‘drive’ the cleaning detergent from the top of the screen to the bottom.
In most cars you will be able to clean the whole screen without having to change seats; if you are right-handed — sit in the passenger side seat, and if you are left handed — sit in the driver’s seat, that way you are using your strongest arm to your advantage.

The triangle shape helps you get into the corners and helps you navigate around the rear-view mirror and any dash cams you may have fitted to the screen. You can even use the tool to clean all the side windows, and it is also brilliant for cleaning all the glass from the outside after you have finished washing the vehicle. If you own or drive a large SUV, campervan, truck, RV, coach, van, etc, you can fit an extension pole to the tool to reach glass on tall vehicles. We tested it on the Audi A6 which has a huge windscreen and were extremely impressed with the ease of use and results. From the driver’s seat we were able to clean the entire screen effortlessly. Our top tip is to only spray a light mist directly on to the pad being careful not to over saturate the fabric and follow the instructions as directed by ‘Stoner Car Care’ in the above video. After use, remove the pad and hand wash in the sink, and leave to dry on a radiator. Alternatively, you can wash the pads in the washing machine on a delicate cycle.
