When you think of the name ‘Flymo,’ you automatically associate it with lawnmowers. However, did you know Gardena and Flymo have teamed up to create a handheld, cordless, compact, portable pressure washer!

We are now in winter and doing any outdoor cleaning is a chore, says Kiran Parmar. Let’s face it, setting up the big mains powered pressure washer is a bit of a headache; you have your power lead which will no doubt need to be plugged into an extension lead, then you have to uncoil and connect the high pressure hose, then the gun lance, then the connectors, and finally connect the garden hose pipe, and then pack all that stuff away after you finish the job, you get the idea!

The Flymo ‘EasiClean LI’ makes life so much easier; all you need is a fully charged battery, (battery and charger are supplied with the unit), and your garden hose and you are ready to go and it can even be used with a container of water which is great when you don’t have access to a mains supply of water, ideal when you have to wash the mountain bikes on a camping trip, or those muddy boots after your hike.

The ‘EasiClean LI’ gives you more pressure than using a hosepipe alone and is great for short jobs around the garden such as washing garden furniture, wheelie bins, children’s bikes and outdoor toys, flower pots, garden tools, barbecue, mountain bikes, motorbikes, etc.

As you would probably expect, the pressure is less than a main’s powered pressure washer and the battery life is limited so you need to be time conscience. We would recommend buying a spare battery as you don’t want to run out of ‘juice’ halfway through a job.

For big jobs such as cleaning the driveway or patio, or a very dirty car, we would recommend a conventional mains powered pressure washer, the Flymo is designed for ‘light duty’ cleaning jobs.

The Flymo ‘EasiClean LI’ feels well made, is easy to use, and comes with three different pressure adaptors with two storage slots built in so you will never misplace your adaptors. The whole unit takes hardly any space to store in your shed or garage.

The battery is a “Power For All” 18-volt, 2.5 Ah. (An ampere-hour (Ah) is a unit of electric charge used to measure the capacity of a battery, a battery with a larger ‘Ah’ value will give you greater run time).

Flymo have teamed up with Bosch, Gardena, Husqvarna, Gloria, Wagner, Rapid, Steinel, LEDVANCE, Perfect Pro, HK Audio, to create the “Power For All” alliance that all share the same battery that can be used with different power tools or appliances.

An LED display on the unit shows battery life in 3 bars so you know how much power is left for your job. The power can be adjusted via the ‘Cleaning Mode’ button, it starts on the most powerful mode by default. Choose from 24, 14 or 9 bar pressure.

We were impressed with the Flymo pressure washer concept as you can have a jet washer in your hand in a remote location where there is no power or mains water supply. We also enjoyed using it for small jobs around the garden when we didn’t want the hassle of dragging out the big, heavy mains powered pressure washer. Overall, the Flymo is an excellent product to have in your garage or shed which you feel motivated to use whenever you need to do any small outdoor cleaning jobs.
