Here at the Free Car Mag garage, we do like to keep our cars clean. Lets face it, nobody wants to sit in a dirty, germ infested car! We were delighted to receive a fantastic, revolutionary product from Autoglym that does two jobs for the price of one – a cleaner and a sanitizer which kills 99.999% of bacteria and viruses including coronavirus, flu, SARS, and H1N1 SAYS KIRAN PARMAR who has tested this product
We recently purchased a second hand Audi A6 Quattro to add to the Free car Mag fleet and decided to try out the ‘Cleaner & Sanitiser’ on our new (to us) Audi.
The steering wheel is typically the dirtiest and most germ ridden component of the cockpit. According to the ‘How Stuff Works’ website; “It’s six times dirtier than your smartphone screen, four times nastier than the seat of a public toilet and twice as filthy as the buttons in an elevator.”
We were also horrified to discover that about 700 different strains of bacteria could be breeding in the cabin of an average car and the habit of in-car eating and drinking and then touching your car’s interior surfaces makes things even worse. Consider that any food or liquid you drop or spill creates the perfect environment — dark, confined and exposed to plenty of temperature changes — for breeding more bacteria. So next time you are tempted to do a ‘McDrive-Thru’ and eat in your car, think again! Your car will thank you for it.
We started by spraying the product all over the wheel, horn, indicator, wiper, and cruise control stalks and sparingly over the steering wheel buttons. We used a high quality detailers brush to work the product into all the nooks and crannies of the above areas and let it do its magic for a few minutes. We then used a green Autoglym Interior Microfibre cloth to wipe down all the surfaces. Our Audi has volume control wheels on the steering wheel which felt sticky and unpleasant and you can see how dirty they were in the before photos. After wiping the surfaces you could clearly see the microfiber cloth turn black. The steering wheel and all the buttons now feel and look like new.
On the dashboard and centre console we sprayed the product directly onto the cloth and wiped down all the surfaces. After you can notice that all the surfaces feel clean, smooth and grease free and Autoglym have added a pleasant and non-overpowering scent to the product which smells showroom fresh.
With the cupholders we sprayed the product directly onto the intricate plastic area and used a detailers brush to work in the product and dried the area with a microfiber cloth, same with the door cards and door sills. Be careful not to spray the product into the door speakers.
With the air vents we sprayed some product directly onto the detailers brush, worked the brush into the vents, and then dried with the microfiber cloth.
We were really impressed with this product from Autoglym, it is quick and easy to use and gentle on all the surfaces we tested it on. We like the fact that it can be used on leather surfaces also. If your car has digital screens or touch screens; spray the product sparingly onto the cloth first and wipe the screens gently, being careful not to overly saturate them. We found it helpful to buff the screens gently with a separate clean dry microfiber cloth immediately after and do not allow the product to dry.
So if you want to hygienically clean and sanitise the inside of your car, don’t be tempted to use the kitchen anti-bac spray but rather use a dedicated car care product from Autoglym which is proudly made in Great Britain.
We found Autoglym ‘Interior Cleaner & Sanitiser 500ml’ online for around £13 or purchase directly from the Autoglym website by clicking here > https://www.autoglym.com/interior-cleaner-sanitiser.html
