Ted Wu, General Manager and Global Head of Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel, said: “When we launched the search for our first Hot Wheels Tiniest Team Principal™, we were looking for a kid who wasn’t afraid to think big, make bold decisions and bring plenty of imagination to the world of racing. George captured all of that from the moment we saw his entry. His passion, creativity and confidence made him a standout, and we can’t wait to see him step into the role and experience Formula 1® and Hot Wheels from the inside. The future of racing is in great hands.”
George was selected by a distinguished panel of judges including Formula 1® President and CEO Stefano Domenicali, 2009 FIA Formula One World Drivers’ Champion Jenson Button, Ted Wu, General Manager and Global Head of Vehicles and Building Sets at Mattel, and Hot Wheels designer Kristina Albrecht.
Hot Wheels Tiniest Team Principal UK Winner, George Norris, said: “I can’t believe I won! I absolutely love Hot Wheels because you can build really fast tracks and race all of your cars on them. At the same time, I’m obsessed with F1, it’s just so exciting. This is my first time at a Formula 1 race. It’s the best thing ever!”
Ryan Norris, George’s Dad, added: “Since the age of three George has been a Hot Wheels and Formula 1 super fan, winning this competition is a dream come true! The experience has been so special. He’s loved every minute of his time at Silverstone and can’t wait to visit Hot Wheels in California. I know he will have plenty of ideas on car liveries to share! We’re grateful to Hot Wheels for the chance to be part of something so memorable.”
George’s winning entry demonstrated the imagination, confidence and enthusiasm that sits at the heart of the Hot Wheels brand, embodying the spirit of a generation of young fans who dream big and think like racers.
The Hot Wheels Tiniest Team Principal™ programme was launched to celebrate the next generation of Formula 1® fans by giving children the opportunity to step into one of motorsport’s most exciting leadership roles – if only at 1:64 scale.
