Here is some very good news for those of us who appreciate quality watchmaking. Orient Star has released its latest Contemporary Date models offering a refined interpretation of the much-loved design. The collection includes a 75th anniversary model limited to 1,200 pieces, and two regular models. A new, simplified power reserve indicator and trendy, nuanced colours bring a fresh image and contemporary appeal to the popular signature model.
With three centre hands, a date display, and Orient Star’s signature power reserve indicator, the Contemporary Date has become a favourite for its versatile design, effortlessly suited to any occasion from business to casual.
The latest models refresh the long-cherished dial design with updated details and colours, while preserving the character of the Contemporary Date. The most notable change is the simplification of Orient Star’s power reserve indicator: the previous combination of three-dimensional scale parts and printed numerals has been replaced with printed details alone, bringing a seamless sense of consistency to the dial. The indices have evolved from rounded to a sharp, edgy shape that emphasises the watch’s modern style.
New distinctive features can also be found in the dial’s finishing and colours. A sandblast pattern is pressed on the surface of the latest dials to create a rough texture, finished with a clear coating to accentuate the exquisite contrast of the two effects. The subtle ‘nuanced’ purple and beige dial colours of the regular models pair beautifully with the polished finish, giving the watches a modern trend-forward appeal.
In contrast to the subdued, muted purple and beige colours of the regular models is the 75th anniversary Contemporary Date, featuring a renewed dial with a green gradation inspired by the aurora. The mysteries of the universe are magnificently expressed through the dial’s otherworldly green gradation that subtly transitions from light in the centre to dark on the outer edges, leaving a lasting impression. The Contemporary Date with special dial colour is limited to 1,200 pieces, with the words “Orient Star 75th Anniversary” and serial number engraved on the caseback.
Characterised by high quality and ease of use while also being affordable, the new Contemporary Date models come with a 38.5 mm diameter case for wearing comfort, water resistance to 10 bar, sapphire crystal with non-reflective coating, high-quality stainless steel (SUS316L) metal bracelet, and automatic in-house calibre F6N43 providing stable high accuracy of +25 seconds to –15 seconds per day and a 50-hour power reserve, making them an appealing choice for both seasoned enthusiasts and first-time mechanical watch buyers.
