In our second installment of exploring the Autoglym car care range, we decided to look at the Autoglym’s Instant Tyre Dressing. After washing and polishing your car, your tyres are often left looking dull and drab letting the overall appearance of your car down. The good news is that Autoglym has your ‘back’ or rather ‘tyre walls’ covered! Kiran Parmar is your guide, took all the pictures and this video.
We decided to test the product on our brand new Michelin Crossclimate 2 tyres which just arrived in the Free Car Mag garage and are waiting patiently to be fitted to our Audi.
We started by throughly cleaning the tyre walls with Autoglym All Purpose Cleaner. Simply spray the ‘All Purpose Cleaner’ onto the tyre walls and use a stiff brush to agitate the product into the tyre walls in a circular motion and allow to sit for a few minutes. Using an old but clean cloth, dry the whole tyre. Simply shake the bottle and spray the Autoglym Tyre Dressing onto the tyre wall moving your hand a in circular motion with the curvature of the tyre as you press the trigger. Remember that a little goes a long way and avoid spraying any product directly onto the tyre tread. The dressing can be applied on wet or dry rubber, however in our test we decided to dry the rubber first. Any overspray that goes onto the wheels can be simply wiped off.
If you desire a high gloss look; simply spray the product on and walk away. If you prefer a satin finish; remove any excess liquid with a clean microfibre cloth. We prefer the high gloss finish so we decided to go for the first option.
After 24 hours we noticed that the gloss and shine increased and looked even better once the product had completely cured. We were really impressed with this product from Autoglym, we really like the ease of use and level of shine.
