ABARTH AND BREIL CELEBRATE 50 YEARS ABARTH RALLY WITH CHRONOGRAPH

Heritage Hub Italy is pleased to announce a new creation resulting from a licensing agreement spanning more than ten years between Abarth and Breil, the historic Italian watch and jewellery brand founded in Milan in 1935. The exclusive Breil Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Chronograph | Limited Edition pays tribute to one of the iconic cars of rallying’s golden age, which this year celebrates the 50th anniversary of its official unveiling at the 1976 Geneva Motor Show. Produced in just 400 numbered pieces, this refined timepiece celebrates the values shared by the two Italian brands: boldness, performance and a passion for mechanics, expressed through a chronograph with a sporting design and unmistakable character.

At centre stage is the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally, the saloon with bold, aggressive lines that wrote memorable chapters in rallying history. Fifty years after its debut, the model continues to embody the meeting of innovation, character and performance.

Produced in 400 examples in 1976, the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally established itself as one of the most significant cars of rallying’s golden age. Beneath its saloon bodywork lay the grit, power and performance of a true competition car, qualities that enabled it to take on the toughest challenges in international rallying as a leading contender. Its record tells a story of prestigious successes, from victories at the Rally dell’Isola d’Elba and Finland’s 1000 Lakes Rally in 1976 to the FIA Cup for Rally Drivers in 1978 and the World Rally Drivers’ Championship in 1980.

Between 1977 and 1980, the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally also won three World Manufacturers’ Championship titles, with 18 overall victories, two one-two finishes and five podium sweeps. These results consolidated its leading role in rally competition and turned its name into a symbol of determination, technology and a passion for speed.

The new Breil Fiat 131 Abarth Rally Chronograph was created to celebrate 50 years of history, success and motorsport passion surrounding the FIAT 131 Abarth Rally. It is a timepiece that brings to the wrist the energy of a car conceived to push beyond the limits. A chronograph with a decisive character, where the technical language of motoring meets Breil’s sporting aesthetic.

The 43 mm steel case, featuring a brush finishing, conveys strength and elegance. The knurled steel bezel, completed by a black anodised aluminium insert with a tachymeter scale, recalls the dashboard instruments of competition cars. The steel crown with black detailing pairs with the black chronograph pushers.

The black, two-level dial is enhanced by the iconic Abarth chequered pattern, a distinctive graphic motif evoking the world of racing and the chequered flag, the symbol of the finish line and victory. The black counters with white details ensure clear readability of the chronograph functions and help define the dial’s technical architecture.

The hands and indexes with an IP titanium finish and white luminous, ensure optimum legibility even in low-light conditions. The date window, positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock, complements the timepiece’s functions, while the red scorpion between 3 and 4 o’clock stands out as a distinctive element directly recalling the Abarth identity. The Breil and Abarth logos are positioned at 3 o’clock. A mineral glass protects the dial.

On the reverse, the customised screw-down case back features the logos and the limited-edition number.

The chronograph is completed by a brushed-steel bracelet with a deployment clasp, push-buttons and a safety bar.

Inside, the VK67 quartz movement ensures precision and reliability, while water resistance to 10 atmospheres makes the timepiece suitable for everyday wear.
